Project Narrative
Dartmouth Park is a contemporary family home in North London that underwent a complete refurbishment, extension, and loft conversion to create a calm, modern, and highly functional living environment tailored to contemporary family life. The property was stripped back to its original structure and fully reconfigured with a new layout, redesigned bathrooms, and updated living spaces to improve the overall flow, functionality, and connection between spaces.
William Tozer Associates led the architectural design and extension works, while YAM Studios was commissioned to develop the interior design concept, focusing on bathroom design, and furniture selection.
The design approach draws inspiration from Scandinavian interiors, balancing the clean lines and simplicity of minimalist design with the character of the original period property. Mid-century influences were layered with contemporary detailing to create interiors that feel timeless, welcoming, and highly liveable for modern family life.
Throughout the home, a carefully balanced colour palette was used to create soft contrast and subtle focal points while allowing the architectural detailing and curated furnishings to breathe. Textured fabrics, natural materials, and soft finishes introduce colour, and tactility throughout the spaces, softening the clean architectural lines and creating a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
The bathrooms combine contemporary detailing with soft tonal materials and practical layouts designed around everyday family living. Thoughtful material selection, understated finishes, and clean architectural lines create spaces that feel calm, functional, and timeless while remaining connected to the wider Scandinavian-inspired interior concept.
Furniture and styling were carefully curated to complement the architectural simplicity of the home while introducing warmth, softness, and personality throughout the interiors. The combination of mid-century furniture, layered textures, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced and cohesive environment that feels modern yet inviting.
The result is a contemporary family home that combines Scandinavian-inspired aesthetics, thoughtful interior design, and subtle historical character to create a calm, timeless, and highly liveable environment tailored to modern living.
